Temporary Visa

Documents Required

It is strongly recommended to submit the complete set of documents listed below. All documents must be recent (not older than one month) and must be presented as originals along with photocopies. Documents not issued in German, English, Spanish, or French must be accompanied by a certified translation into German or English.

Application Form:

• Printed and signed visa application form (Videx short-stay online application form, including the barcode page)
• A separate application form is required for each applicant, including children

Passport:

• Valid original passport signed by the holder
  • Issued within the last 10 years
  • Valid for at least three months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen area
  • Must contain at least two blank pages

UK Residency:

• UKVI Immigration/E-Visa and Share Code for “right to work” or “Prove your immigration status”
  • For all non-UK passport holders.

Photographs:

• Two UK passport-sized photos, 35 x 45 mm in size, taken on a white or off-white background (no digital alterations).

Proof of Medical Treatment:

• An original, recent (within one month) and signed document from a recognized medical facility or doctor in Germany
  • This should confirm the treatment appointment, diagnosis, and duration of the treatment plan
•  Any additional documentation that explains the medical condition and necessity for treatment in Germany

Proof of Funds:

• UK bank account statements for the last three months showing a current balance of at least £40 per day living allowance for the duration of the stay
• Statements must include the applicant’s name, address, and monthly spending limits
• The balance should account for treatment costs, travel tickets, and accommodation expenses (if not prepaid)
• If applicable, a formal obligation letter (“Verpflichtungserklärung”) from the local immigration office in Germany may be provided

Proof Travel:

• Confirmed return travel tickets (airline, ferry, or train) showing the applicant’s name and travel dates
• For travel within the Schengen area, additional travel documentation must be provided
• Booking fully refundable tickets is advisable

Accommodation:

• Confirmed accommodation arrangements for the entire duration of the stay
  • Must include the applicant’s name, travel dates, and accommodation address
• Alternatively, if the applicant is receiving treatment at a hospital with onsite accommodation, the hospital’s confirmation may be provided

Travel Health Insurance:

• A valid policy showing the applicant’s name with a minimum coverage of €30,000
• Must be valid for all Schengen member states and cover the entire duration of the intended stay
• (EHIC or GHIC cards are not sufficient)

Proof of Occupation:

• For Employees:

• • A recent (within one month) signed employment letter or three months’ pay slips
• For Self-Employed:
  • A recent (within one month) letter from a qualified professional (accountant, banker, or solicitor) on official headed paper confirming self-employment or business ownership in the UK, including remuneration details; or a self-assessment form with the last three months’ business bank statements
• For Students:
  • A recent letter from the educational institution confirming the student’s status
    • For Unemployed/Retired:
  • A letter from Universal Credit, a pension letter, or proof of benefits received (last three months’ statements)

Additional Documents for Sponsored Applicants (if applicable):

• If sponsored by a spouse, parent, or adult child, provide:
  • Original marriage or birth certificate (translated if necessary)
  • Copy of the sponsor’s passport
  • Sponsor’s proof of funds
  • Sponsor’s proof of occupation
  • A signed confirmation of support by the sponsor

Additional Documents for Minors (if applicable):

• A separate application form for each child (signed by both parents or all guardians)
• Original passports of both parents and child’s birth certificate (translated if necessary)
• If applicable, the child’s school certificate
• For unaccompanied minors, a declaration or letter of consent signed by both parents authorizing the minor to travel and designating a responsible person is strongly recommended
